Story of My Life - Scout Master Syra
------------------------------------------

Man. I've seen it all. I've been chased by the bear which looked like the bloated winnie the pooh and that friggin
moa bird which looked like dyed version of big bird when i was young. well i tried to tame them by myself using the skill
that master scout nente taught me but i guess bears and fowls are not for me. i wanted to have some pet, man.

/prepares the peyote./

when i was about 12, my father and i went to shiverpeaks to look for some dwarven antidote for my mother's sickness as well
as to get myself a new pet elder wolf. coz wolves were the fad then among my teen friends. well you know, we lived in a closed
knit ranger commune where love, sex and psychedelic music were a daily activity. anyhow, we encountered a pack of bulls and
my father tried to fight them. one by one, bulls drop one by one. my father was a superb marksman. he was the master of bows
without elemental preparation. shoot arrows, here, dodge, shoot arrows there dodge. he was the greatest. i rememmber my
father saying "everything's gonna be alright" while shoving arrows into a pack of 5. but sad thing happened. there was another
bull patrol that was incoming to our area. and sadly, my father got killed and his last words were, "i love you and tell
your mom that i love her." that was the saddest day of my life man. the bull patrol was going away but one of its members
noticed the sound that i made and chased me. i ran as fast as i could. full force you know. like i'm on windborne speed stacked
with sprint. those gay warrior/eles. then i bumped into a wolf which was finishing his meal. i thought that it will
eat me alive, man. but no. he fought with the bull instead. with my cunning ranger instincts, i tamed the wolf and it fought
to death defending me. good thing i brought my comfort animal taught by master scout nente.

ok lets skip my teenie highschool years. boyfriends, parties, etc. skip

well my mom died of natural causes when i was teen too. let her rest in peace.

well, ranger community is a great community, there is no term as homeless, parentless, single mom etc. ranger community
is a tight knit community. when one warrior, elementalist, mesmer, necromancer, or that smiting monk aggroed one ranger,
expect all rangers to gang up on that friggin guy. we developed offense to defend ourselves. well, we have specialties.

Marksmanship, Wilderness Survival, Expertise and Beast Mastery.

we human rangers are perfect with marksmanship and beast
mastery. master scouts or scout masters (for female :P) always have 14 above expertise and we only tapped a few wilderness survival
namely troll unguent and some elemental and natural preparations. and spirits too. we became strong with spirits back back
then that no any other class can put us down. till the gods of tyria removed the overwhelming power of spirits.

lately, we noticed that our pets are disappearing one by one. moas, spiders, bears, warthogs. little did we know
that those warriors are using them to kill every other classes in tyria. "I will avenge you" "I will avenge you". those
are now the only words that they can say. gay. sounds almost dumb.

/shoots up the peyote/

we planned to take down those IWAY warriors by specializing and tuning up our bow skills. well some of my friends became
elite speed interrupt rangers. i was going to train to be one till my elder wolf was stolen by a warrior monk named
"Paladin Template User". i was depressed and bade goodbye to my community to venture to crystal desert for a sage to give
me some valium or something. sad

days and nights, the desert was hellish. no water, few food courtesy of tasty dune lizards and i'm only dependent
on healing spring taught to me by a master scout in our commune. i fought some jade scarabs and found them easy. until i saw
some scorpion like mob which gave bleached carapace. they were expert interrupters and Trappers. i was impressed. instead
of fighting them, i watch them fight desert bulls and i've learned a lot. i got to thirsty river and there was this
ghostly hero who seems to be a chain smoker coz of the way that he talked. he taught me the skills that i needed and secrets
of trapping that was unheard before. from him i heard the term "OFFENSIVE TRAPPING".

/smokes some ...d/

well in our community, trappers usually are defensive. they either wait for the enemies to come or use traps as
a way to defend from a melee warrior. the last kinda trapper is popularized by the elite crew of IVEX (IVEX trapper premade).
well ghostly hero's thing was different. its like attack and trap. attack and trap. but, he warned me to use some kinda
evade coz setting traps are easily interrupted. well before i forget, he taught me 5 skills.

1) Dust Trap
Description: When Dust Trap is triggered, all foes in the area are Blinded for 3-9 seconds and take 10-56 earth damage.
While activating this skill you are easily interrupted. Dust Trap ends after 90 seconds.
Energy Cost: 25
Activation Time: 2 Seconds.
Recharge Time: 30 Seconds.
Linked Attribute Wilderness Survival. Increases duration and damage dealt.
Skill Type: Trap.

2) Flame Trap
Description: When Flame Trap is triggered, for 3 seconds all foes in the area are struck for 15-27 fire damage and set
on fire for 1-3 seconds. Flame Trap automatically triggers after 90 seconds. While activating this skill, you are easily interrupted.

3) Barbed Trap
Description: When Barbed Trap is triggered, all foes in the area take 20-56 piercing damage and become crippled and
bleeding for 3-21 seconds. Barbed Trap ends after 90 seconds. While activating this skill, you are easily interrupted.
Energy Cost: 15
Activation Time: 2 Seconds.
Recharge Time: 20 Seconds.
Linked Attribute Wilderness Survival. Increases damage dealt and duration.
Skill Type: Trap.

4) Spike Trap
Description: When Spike Trap is triggered, all foes in the area take 10-56 piercing damage, become crippled for 3-13
seconds and are knocked down. Spike Trap ends after 90 seconds. While activating this skill, you are easily interrupted.
This is an elite skill.
Energy Cost: 10
Activation Time: 2 Seconds.
Recharge Time: 20 Seconds.
Linked Attribute Wilderness Survival. Increases damage dealt and duration.
Skill Type: Trap.

5) Whirling Defense
Description: For 8-18 seconds, you have 75% chance to block attacks. Whenever you block an arrow this way, adjacent foes take 5-10 piercing damage.
Energy Cost: 10
Activation Time: None.
Recharge Time: 60 Seconds.
Linked Attribute Expertise. Increases duration and damage dealt.
Skill Type: Stance.

well man i practiced and i practiced but trapping is difficult. when youre setting traps, you are easily interrupted.
man, thats the shittiest thing. you can degen me but never never interrupt me. i thought that the ghostly hero is nuts til
i met some mesmer named Tom Cruise Jr. whatta gay name.

i first met Tom the pimp when i was killing some mesmer mobs in the desert. he was with 5 henchmen killing those thingies.
i remembered fighting those mobs and i remember clearly that i get interrupted all the time. but this tom the gay guy was
flawless man. he stood there like nothings happened when 1 zillion mobs do powerdrain on him. after his fight, which i think
was one of the gayest, i talked to him and interviewed him. he was the pimp man. he spoke like snoop dogg but he was friendly.
he told me his secret. Mantra of Concentration and Mantra of Resolve. he told me that mantra of concentration can keep you steady
but will expire if an interrupt on you was made and mantra of resolve will keep you uninterrupted as long as your energy is
kept +0.

6) Mantra of Resolve
Description: For 30-78 seconds, you cannot be interrupted, but each time you would have been interrupted, you lose
7-3 energy or Mantra of Resolve ends.
Energy Cost: 10
Activation Time: None.
Recharge Time: 20 Seconds.
Linked Attribute: Inspiration Magic. Increases duration and decreases energy lost.
Skill Type: Stance.

well alas.! i went to ghostly hero and ask him for a mesmer secondary quest change and he told me yadda yadda and
i had mantra of resolve. practiced offensive trapping and i'm a full fledge R/Me offensive trapper according to Ghostly hero.

i went to the commune to spread the gospel of "Offensive Trapping". the ranger extraordinaire bestowed me the title
Scout Master (for female) and now they instructed me to teach or rekindle (i dont know if generations before me used it) the
Offensive Trapping.

this is not a secret anymore. spread the word.

so man, enjoy. this is my story.

Damn funny.

aka "Victoy is mine" trapping ball.

~13 Tactics (Elite shout)
You gain 10-56 health and 5 energy for each condition suffered by adjacent foes.

you know what this elite means... warriors will make it a new flavour.

Video is nothing special but fun waching once. Its always fun so see people that utterly fail in moving back.

Mantra of Resolve... good thinking. Usually when trapping I just hide behind my Whirling Defense, but Whirling Defense still allows 25% of attacks to hit you. Mantra of Resolve is a great idea.

drop healing spring because it's junk. Add Spirit of Failure and throw it up on an enemy to offset the mana cost of Mantra of Resolve.

Yup, looks like my build. Except I use throw dirt instead of whirling.

why would you want both whirling and resolve? either swap out spike and resolve for oath shot and something else (oath shot keeps whirling D up 24/7), or take out whirling and (like some1 else already said) put in some energy management.

otherwise its good.

Whirling gives 75% evade. Mantra of resolve prevents interruption for the 25% that get through.

It's a very nice trapper build.

yea they are both stances. cant be stacked.

Just use Resolve if youre laying traps on the combat field to prevent interruption. but if melee attackers gang up on you, switch the stance to whirling defense (and use troll). when hp is ok and you wanna lay traps again, fire up Resolve.

well traps have recharge times. while waiting for them to be usable, my energy is charging at 3 pips. that build just used only traps so energy management for me wasnt a big issue.

the promotion of aggresive/offensive trapping, the point of this post is.

Drinking + posting = not cool, lol.

There are so many mantras that I get confused between them sometimes, alcoholic beverages do not help in this regard. What I was thinking of was Mantra of Recall which is annoyingly similarly named to Mantra of Recovery. Ugh.

Why can't they make all Mantras one type of skill? -.-
